The Fire that comes from the West is as capricious as any bandit: animate, intelligent, possessed of an obscure sense of humor. Some incinerated by it see their skin, organs and bones fall away – all except for the skull, which remains hovering, wreathed in ever-burning emerald fire. These abominable ignis fatuus crave companionship, and may almost be worth the trouble.
